Shortly before midnight, the car hit a stone wall and mailbox on the north side of Margemere Drive; slid and made 60 feet of tire marks before hitting a tree on the south side of the road; and then slid back across and left 80 feet of tire marks on another lawn, police said.

A witness said the car then spun around and left 80 feet of tire marks on another lawn, police said.

The car ended up stuck in some mud in the witness’ side yard, police said.

The driver apologized to officers for “drinking too much” and said he thought he was outside his Gate Stone Lane home nearly 5 miles away, police said.

He was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for evaluation, police said.

The incident is under investigation.
